ولو انهم آمنوا واتقوا لفتحنا

This Āyah makes clear that the barakah of all creation and everything in existence is entirely dependent on īman and Taqwā. If adopted, one acquires success of the next life as well as this one. Abandoning īman and Taqwā deprives one of their blessings. If we observe the world for a moment we will learn that the apparent produce of the world is in abundance in comparison to earlier generations. The plenitude of commodities and new inventions are such that previous generations couldn't imagine. Yet despite the wide availability of such commodities, the people of today appear depressed and impoverished. There is no sign of calm, security, or peace of mind. The reason for this is that we possess all types of commodities, but they are empty of barakah.
